Local film aims to cut plastic use

The Plastic-Free Jersey campaign has been running since May, and is designed to encourage businesses and Islanders of all ages to stop using plastic and to keep the Island’s beauty spots, particularly its beaches, clear of plastic.

Sheena Brockie, co-founder of PFJ and winner of the 2018 Pride of Jersey Environmentalist of the Year award, said: ‘The ocean plastics issue has reached the forefront of mainstream media within the last 12 months, which is phenomenal. But often the messages we see can make us feel overwhelmed with the problem.

‘At Plastic-Free Jersey, we made a decision early on that our strategy would be optimistic, solutions-based and inclusive. We live in a beautiful Island with an incredible coastline, and we want to keep it that way. We know that Islanders are proud of our natural environment and so that sits at the core of our work.’

The new video, which was released this morning, was shot and filmed in Jersey.

Linzi Hawkin, co-founder of PFJ, added: ‘We were so fortunate to work alongside many Islanders – from local surfers and fishermen to families, adventurous kids and many more. We are very proud that every single shot has been filmed in the Island. There is no stock footage, and everything has been shot by local videographers.’
