Marinas to exhibit at Southampton Boat Show

The show, which is celebrating 50 years and attracts more than 123,000 people, starts on Friday 14 September and lasts ten days. In previous years it is estimated that as much as £16 million was spent over the ten-day show.

Jersey Marinas has attended the show for more than 25 years and will promote Jersey as a tourist destination, as well as benefitting the Island’s marine economy.

This year Jersey Marinas is due to team up with marina colleagues from the Association of Ports de Plaisance de Brittany (APPB) as well as Normandy, Guernsey and Alderney. The Marina’s stand is due to be in The Ocean Hall, J086 under the banner ‘Welcome to the finest cruising ground in Northern Europe.’

Mike Tait, group leisure manager for Ports of Jersey who has responsibility for Jersey Marinas, said: ‘Without doubt the Southampton Boat Show is the most prestigious event for boating enthusiasts, attracting tens of thousands of visitors over the ten days.

‘Therefore, it is the perfect opportunity for Jersey Marinas to showcase our facilities to a captive audience while working closely with our marina partners to promote our mutual cruising waters. 2018 has been a very successful year so far for us at Jersey Marinas; having not only retained our 5 Gold Anchor* status for the 13th consecutive year but enjoying another successful year with our Passeport Escales initiative, attracting a number of new visiting yachtsmen from across Europe.

‘And of course we’re delighted that St Helier Marina was voted ‘2018 Coastal Marina of the Year’ by our customers, which is such a tremendous honour. The team therefore will be attending Southampton this year with an extra spring in our step.’
