Following weeks of mainly settled weather, the Island is on course to have an exceptionally dry May, which usually sees an average of about 55 mm of rainfall.
And more dry weather is forecast for the rest of the week, with just the risk of an occasional heavy shower.
Jersey Met forecaster Aimée Reading said: ‘It looks like it is going to get drier but the shower risk will increase again by Sunday. Temperatures will drop a little by Friday, when we are expecting a maximum of 20°C, but are likely to recover again, rising to about 23°C on Sunday.’
Meanwhile, the UK Met Office, which issues 30-day forecasts on its website, says that the mainly settled weather could last well into June. For 3 to 12 June, it says the best of the weather is initially likely to be in the north of the British Isles, with the continued risk of thundery showers in the south, where it will eventually become drier and brighter.
The Met Office says that the signals are mixed and weak for 13 to 27 June and therefore confidence in the forecast is low. However, it adds: ‘All parts of the country are likely to see some decent settled spells of weather.
‘Temperatures overall will likely be near or slightly above normal. There is the potential for further very warm spells of weather to develop mainly in the south.’
