The children from St Lawrence School were invited to take on the job of junior honorary hotel inspectors on Friday, when they toured the 91-bedroom hotel at Charing Cross armed with their own ‘inspector kits’, which included lab coats and magnifying glasses.
Every aspect of the hotel was examined to ensure its child-friendliness, from the welcome at reception and Premier Inn kids menu to bed comfiness. Following the inspection the children also got to sample the hotel’s kids menu including food such as the ‘make your own pizzas’ option.
Vivieanne Carr, new openings manager of the St Helier Premier Inn, said: ‘We’re constantly looking for new ways to exceed our guests’ expectations, which is why we’ve shaken up the system and enlisted the help of our new experts.
‘No matter what their age, every Premier Inn guest deserves a great night’s sleep, so we’re pleased our junior hotel inspectors gave us some great feedback. Now we have the official seal of approval we are looking forward to opening our doors and welcoming our first guests.’
Jane Turner, teacher at St Lawrence School, said: ‘The children were so excited to be invited and act as junior hotel inspectors for Premier Inn.
‘Having seen the hotel several months ago when it was under construction, the children were thrilled to have been invited back now it is finished.’
The Premier Inn officially opened its doors to the public for the first time yesterday, with the first hotel guests due to arrive from 11 June.
Around 1,500 bookings have already been made since 4 May.
Meanwhile, the café Locke’s Stories in the historic Foot Building that was restored as part of the Charing Cross development also opened yesterday.
