Durrell conservation work recognised

On Thursday night the organisation was given the Conservation Award at the 71st annual conference of the World Association of Zoos and Aquariums.

Durrell’s chief executive, Dr Lesley Dickie, attended the ceremony, which was held in Puebla in Mexico, and collected the award on behalf of the institution.

October has proved a fruitful month for the organisation, with Durrell scientist Professor Carl Jones also receiving the $250,000 Indianapolis Prize for his work helping to save different animal species from extinction.
