Regulator orders JT to cut land line charges

The Channel Islands Competition and Regulatory Authorities has ordered the company to reduce charges by the Retail Price Index – the main measure of inflation – plus a further 6.5 per cent for years one and two.

Under the terms of the notice the third-year reduction would be by the RPI amount alone.

However, following the announcement JT issued a strongly-worded response saying the price control was ‘extreme’ and that the competition watchdog had failed to take into account ‘vital’ elements of the Island’s land line market.
