Investigation launched following death of six-week-old baby

Police were called out in the early hours following a call from the Ambulance Service who had responded to reports of a baby in distress.

In a statement, the States police said: ‘Police were called in the early hours of this morning following a call from Ambulance Service who had attended an address in St Lawrence in response to a 999 call and reports of a baby in distress. The six-week-old baby was conveyed to the hospital where death was subsequently confirmed.

‘The death is being treated & investigated as unexplained. Specialist family liaison officers are working in support of the family at this time as police investigations continue, working with multi-agency partners from both Health & Viscount’s Department.’
