Brexit: Cost of continental holidays jumps as pound nose-dives

On Friday the pound plummeted seven per cent against the euro and by early morning was at its lowest value in 30 years.

Carl Winn, operations manager for the Co-op, said that the business had seen a surge in demand for currency transactions overnight on Thursday as people bought up euros ahead of a possible Brexit.

In a statement, the Association of British Travel Agents said that travelling abroad would now be more expensive.
