Broad Street is to go en fête every Sunday

Under a new initiative, the parish of St Helier has been given the go-ahead by the Infrastructure Department to close the area between 10 am and 4 pm every Sunday from next weekend until mid-September.

The parish said that they had decided to launch the scheme following public demand and the success of market stalls held as part of the Fête de St Hélier over the past three years.

Stands will sell a range of crafts, souvenirs, food, drinks and Genuine Jersey products, while live music will also be organised in the street outside the Blue Note pub. Restaurants and cafés in the area will also be invited to host al-fresco dining.

The first event will be held on Sunday 22 May and they will run every week, except 14 August when the market will be held at Havre des Pas, until Sunday 18 September.
