Paul’s birthday challenge: A marathon a day – for 50 days

He intends to run 50 marathons in 50 days – and it will be the culmination of another challenge he set himself in March 2014, which was to run 10,000 miles in 1,000 days.

The marathons will be the toughest challenge yet for the London primary school teacher, who was born and brought up in the Island, and who has already run more than 100 marathons, after taking up the sport in the 1980s and ultra-distance running in 2012.

His first marathon was in Jersey in 1984, which he finished in 3 hr 42 min 58 sec, a time he improved on over the years to a best of 3.00.03.
