In 2012, officers trained to carry lethal and non-lethal firearms, such as Tasers, were sent out on 13 occasions, compared with 16 times in 2013, 26 in 2014 and 38 last year.
During one deployment in August an officer fired his weapon three times to kill a ‘dangerous’ bull in Grouville.
Firearms officers are deployed to situations where a danger is posed to the police, public or both by a suspect or has access to a gun or any other potentially lethal weapon.
