Funding deadline draws nearer for hi-tech ski helmet designer

Former De La Salle student Stephen Catterson launched a crowd-funding campaign in January through the website Kickstarter.com in an attempt to raise £100,000 to fund the helmet, called the LinkPro Explore 1, which is designed to help skiers and snowboarders to keep in touch while enjoying their sports and to cut out the difficulty of taking phone calls or changing songs while on the mountain.

There are just three days left for the campaign to reach its target, and under the terms set out by the company, unless the funding goal is achieved, no money will be collected.

Mr Catterson, who has a first-class honours degree in marketing from Glasgow Caledonian University, is looking for support to create the ski helmet, which enables users to communicate with each other over a range of three kilometres, while also offering the facility to listen to music on the slopes.
