The report, compiled by Jersey Heritage, is due to become an annual benchmark for all aspects of the Island’s heritage industry so that organisations can see what areas, sites and initiatives have been successful and which may need to change each year.

Information from a range of surveys dating back to 2014 was brought together in the report, which is called Heritage Counts.

A similar process is used in the UK to help authorities understand the value of heritage, its role in the local economy and how it enhances a community’s sense of cultural identity.

The report will guide future work and contains information relating to the historic environment, Jersey Heritage, the Environment Department, and local organisations the Société Jersiaise, the National Trust for Jersey and the Channel Islands Occupation Society.
