Sorry, Terri, but your luxury flight home is out of financial reach

Just over two weeks ago the creature was found washed up on the beach at Grève d’Azette and was taken to New Era Veterinary Surgery, where it was treated and restored to health.

A fundraising page was set up last week to try to raise £22,000 to charter a private aircraft to fly it 2,000 miles back to the Canary Islands. However, despite having raised more than £8,000 in donations since Saturday, both online and via the New Era Veterinary Surgery, it is thought that the £20,000 target will not be met in time to transfer Terri, who needs to be released back into the wild as soon as possible.

Those trying to save the turtle are now looking at chartering a smaller private aircraft, at a cost of about £10,000.

The fundraising page can be viewed here.
