Islander strives to create ‘best ski helmet on the market’

Stephen Catterson (28) came up with the idea for the LinkPro Explore 1 several years ago while on holiday in the French resort of Val Thorens and is now seeking backers on to bring his product to market.

The helmet incorporates speakers and communications equipment that enables users to talk to one another over a range of 3 km and to interrupt their friends’ music to alert them of any dangers on or off piste.

Now the young entrepreneur, who received a first-class honours degree in marketing from Glasgow Caledonian University after attending De La Salle College, has launched a crowd-funding campaign on kickstarter.com to raise £100,000 to finance the project.

‘Success for me will be being recognised as having the best ski helmet on the market, both in terms of safety and technicality,’ he said.
