The fight, which happened close to La Frégate café in the early hours of Saturday, left the two victims with a number of injuries.
One of the victims, who is 23 years old, suffered injuries to his face and back of the head and was taken to hospital. The other man did not require hospital treatment. He was discharged later in the morning.
It is unclear exactly how many were in the group, but the number has been described by police as ‘in excess of seven’. No arrests have yet been made and the police have confirmed that no weapons were used.
The incident happened at around 1 am, when the two victims were approached outside the café. CCTV footage is being analysed and police are appealing for witnesses who may have seen the attack to come forward.
