In his first official engagement since being voted into office by the States on Tuesday, Senator Sir Philip Bailhache met His Excellency Bernard Emié in London.
He also met a senior official from France’s Ministry of Finance to discuss the country’s perception of Jersey in relation to the Island’s tax laws.
Sir Philip said: ‘Our meeting with the French Ambassador and his officials was friendly and constructive. We discussed the technical criteria that governed the French authorities’ decision to place the Island on their list of non-cooperative jurisdictions. We remain committed to resolving these issues and removing Jersey from the list as quickly as possible.’
