Maurice Dubras, the chairman of the Council for the Protection of Jersey’s Heritage, has levelled fresh complaints about Environment Minister Rob Duhamel’s Planning process saying that several ‘contrary-to-policy’ decisions had been made in recent months that showed no regard for the conservation and protection of the Island’s historic buildings.
Mr Dubras has voiced the council’s concern in a letter to the editor of the Jersey Evening Post published today, which cites as examples the Co-op’s proposals, which include the loss of several historic buildings in Pitt Street and Dumaresq Street, the redevelopment of the Southampton Hotel for office space and the huge international finance centre planned for the Esplanade Car Park.
