HOW disappointing! The Folklore festival is unable to be repeated due to lack of funds and the short sightedness of Jersey tourism (JEP 21 March).

Last year’s event was a well organised, peaceful, family orientated weekend treat where folk who enjoy alternative music to Jersey Live could relax and appreciate an incredible line-up of talent.

Some of us welcome Warren Holt’s bravery and his consideration for offering something that was unique in Jersey’s musical history. To name but a few: Van the Man, Joan Armatrading, Ray Davies, and Jake Bugg who is now racing to stardom – all these under one tent!

Surely Mr Holt should be applauded and encouraged for his hard work in producing such a gem of a festival.

Is it too much to ask that in an Island dominated by international banks and finance companies that the cost of this event could not be met by sponsorship and tourism combined?

It looks like this event could go the same way as the innovative Branchage film festival – on the cutting room floor.
