The group of cooks from Highlands College have been set a challenge to prepare a three-course meal live at the JEP Homelife show.
Top Jersey chef David Cameron, of the Boathouse group, is planning the menu and believes it is a perfect way for the budding cooks to get a taste of busy kitchen conditions.
‘These guys are just at the beginning of their careers and it will be a great experience and learning curve in a stressful environment,’ he said.
‘It’s also always nice to see some cocky teenagers put under some pressure.’
Split into teams of two, the students will have just an hour to complete the task, which will be judged by Mr Cameron.
Tony Pessego and Robert Wilton will battle it out against Ivo Canivari and Daniel Aires at the Pentagon stage kitchen.
Television chef Shaun Rankin, head chef at the Grand Hotel Richard Allen and Mr Cameron will also be cooking at the stage throughout the show.
The three-day show opens at noon on Friday and the young chefs will be starting the challenge at 4.30 pm on that day.
Over 100 businesses have signed up for the event, which will feature cleaning product demonstrations, wine tasting, beauty demonstrations and Jersey’s first ever LED lighting seminar.
Show director Julie Settle said: ‘We have just a few final exhibitors to confirm but I’m certain we’ll be full and I’m very excited for it,’ she said.
‘We expect over 10,000 people to come through the doors over the weekend and I’m sure there will be something for everyone.’
Admission to the show is £3.50 for adults and £1.50 for children.
