Treasury Minister Senator Philip Ozouf revealed at the first public meeting on Health’s proposals called Caring for Each Other, Caring for Ourselves, that the Council of Ministers had agreed to use money from the fund.

Speaking after the meeting he said that some of the work that was needed was too important not to start now.

While it has been agreed that there will be no new taxes or charges over the next three years leaders have yet to decide how the new system will be paid for after 2015.

Last night at Trinity Youth Club Islanders were given a chance to quiz health executives as well as Chief Minister Ian Gorst, Health Minister Anne Pryke and Senator Ozouf about the proposals.

Under the plans, a range of modern healthcare services and practices currently not available in Jersey will be introduced in stages during the next decade with £25 million needed over the next three years alongside a potential investment of £300 million for a new hospital.
