As Mr McDonald sat quietly in his caravan to protect the St Martin’s bonfire from vandals, thieves stole new electric fencing equipment worth £300 from the St Saviour’s field where he and his partner keep their horses.
Mr McDonald and his fiancé, Jean Hamon, said they are ‘heartbroken’ that the goods were stolen and are now getting up through the night to check on their two horses.
