The Senator, who has been in the States since 1993, says that he has been talking to States colleagues about standing for the top job for some time but that he has not made a final decision.

Senator Routier, who serves as an assistant minister in the Chief Minister’s and Economic Development departments, says that he wants to see the result of October’s election before he decides whether to put his name forward.

So far, Home Affairs Minister Ian Le Marquand is the only declared candidate for Chief Minister, but there has been widespread speculation that Treasury Minister Philip Ozouf will also stand. No announcement is expected from Senator Ozouf until next month.
