‘I’ve never been to anything like this before, so I’m really looking forward to it. I’m really, really excited,’ said Gareth, who is now a musical theatre star, as he visited some of the Battle sheds last night.

He and Miss Battle, Alice Cubbage, toured sheds and marquees to encourage the 27 float-building teams, many of whom worked through the night to get their exhibits ready for today’s event.

This morning, the 27 exhibits then made their way through the traffic ready for the big parade, which was due to start at 2.30 pm.
