Jordan Mclachlan (12) was playing with friends in the underground car park on the Waterfront when he ran into the wire.

The Victoria College pupil, who also banged his head when he was knocked to the ground, has had trouble eating since the accident, which happened last Saturday, and has been unable to attend school.

His parents are now warning other users of the car park to watch out for the wire, which they believe could seriously injure someone if it is not removed.

Waterfront Enterprise Board contracts and estates manager Jason Maindonald said that the wire had been in place for the last three years without incident and was there to stop people, along with motorcycles and bikes, entering the private section of the car park.
