Included in the mix are five mountain bikers and three female road racers plus five male road specialists who will all be on the hunt for medals.
There will be little time to acclimatise with the town criterium starting on day one and the mountain bike criterium on day two but this team will be raring to go
The team
Kieron Mills (37): Proprietor, Gleaming Ovens. Mountain bike criterium and cross country. Going to his third Games having won two team silvers previously.
Did you know? Kieron was 100m athletics Oxford county champion.
Sporting idol: Joe Calzaghe.
Simon Stead (47): Engineer at Jersey Post Office. Mountain Bike Criterium and Cross Country. First Games. Has won bronze in the Rubis Town Criterium and held the London to Paris rowing record in the Guinness book of records 2001.
Did you know? Simon holds rowing records in four different categories (pairs, fours, fives, and sixes) and the fastest time of 4.17 hr in the Round Jersey race.
Sporting idol: Too many to mention.
Erik Le Brun (43): Guest house proprietor. Mountain bike criterium and cross-country. Making his Games debut. Only started cycling four years’ ago. Veteran mountain bike champion for the last three years.
Did you know? Erik holds the sponsored Round Island fastest time in a coxed mixed fours rowing team record which he did to raise money for bicycle racks at a local primary school.
Sporting idol: Anyone who mountain bikes, especially Simon Stead who still does well to race at his age!
Rhys Hidrio (20): Apprentice electrician. Mountain bike criterium and cross-country. Making his Games debut and hopes to enjoy himself and represent the Island as best he can.
Did you know? Rhys also loves to go bodyboarding and play the bass.
Sporting idols: Valentino Rossi and Steve Peat.
Adam Wojtkiewicz (36): Head Mechanic and sales manager at The Cycle Centre. Mountain Bike criterium and cross-country plus reserve road. Making his Games debut and hopes to win the criterium. Won the MTB Family Cup in 2000 in Zgierz.
Did you know? Adam was reserve cyclist in 2007 but didn’t get to go as the team remained fit and healthy.
Sporting idols: Nick Craig and Adam Malysz.
Kim Ashton (23): Computershare employee. Town criterium, road race and time trial. Competed in badminton at the 2010 Delhi Commonwealth games. Going for gold in her cycling Games debut but has previously been in three for badminton, winning four medals.
Did you know? Kim likes to bake cakes.

Sue Townsend (40): Legal secretary, Bedell Cristin. Road cyclist. Making her Games debut. JCA ladies’ track champion in 2010 and 2011. Won silver in last year’s ten mile time trial. Was selected from 22,000 entrants to the final 30 in the 1996 TV series Gladiators.
Did you know? Before dislocating her shoulder Sue was able to do 60 press ups in one go without stopping. She won herself a few bottles of champagne with that party piece.
Sporting idol: Eddy Merckx and Victoria Pendleton.
Jo Le Cocq (34): Human resources officer. Road cyclist. Making her Games debut and hopes to have fun and do her best.
Sporting idols: Jens Voigt, Fabian Cancellara and Andy Schleck.
Nick Le Cocq (33): Compliance manager at Mourant Ozannes. Road cyclist/super domestique. Going to his third Games after being an athlete in Shetland 2005 and a triathlete in Rhodes 2007, where he won team gold.
Did you know? Before moving to cycling in 2010 Nick competed for Great Britain in the European Triathlon Championships in France and qualified and raced in the World (70.3) Half Ironman Triathlon Championships in Florida.
Sporting idols: Fabian Cancellara and James Cracknell.
Chris Spence (42): Road cyclist. Going to his eighth Games having won team gold and individual bronze previously. Going for gold this time around.
Did you know? Chris has been to three Commonwealth Games: 1998, 2002 and 2011.
Sporting idol: Steve Ovett.
Ali Cann (36): Works in Trust and Company administration. Road cyclist. Going to his fifth Games after playing on the badminton team in Gibraltar 1995 and cycling in Gotland 1999, Guernsey 2003 and Shetland 2005. Has previously won team medals and best event is the town criterium.
Did you know? Ali is brother to Commonwealth Games bronze medallist badminton player Elizabeth Cann.
Sporting idol: Greg LeMond.
Greg Mansell (23): Racing driver. Road cyclist/sprint specialist. Going to his first Island Games and hopes to help Jersey to some medals. Sprinter of Team UK Youth 2011 cycling team.
Did you know? Greg was the fastest rookie in the 2010 Le Mans 24 hour race.
Sporting idol: Valentino Rossi.
Richard Tanguy (24): Works in a bicycle shop. Road cyclist. Going to his third Games after Shetland 2005 and Rhodes 2007. Has won bronze in the team time trial and competed in the 2010 Commonwealth Games and the 2004 Youth Commonwealths.
Did you know? Richard placed runner-up in the South Regional Road Race Championship in May.
Sporting idol: Chris Spence.
