The architect for the proposed 30 homes at the Plémont site has previously said that the value of the site for the purpose of returning the land to nature would be £14.7 million, less demolition costs.

But St Ouen Constable Ken Vibert thinks that this figure is too high and is sure to frighten anyone, let alone the States Members who will be voting on whether they should compulsory purchase the site on Tuesday.

He has called a meeting tonight to gauge public opinion on the plans to demolish the former Plémont Holiday Village and build a mixture of three, four and five-bedroom houses, leaving about 18 vergées of land accessible to the public.
