Ladies’ Day at Les Landes has been going for about ten years and yesterday’s event boasted record numbers of women taking part. Hundreds of ladies turned out in their finest outfits and the judges struggled to select just one best-dressed lady and one best hat.
The judging panel was made up of Marilyn Monroe lookalike Suzie Kennedy, who flew in from London for the event, local collector David Gainsborough Roberts and JEP reporter Carly Lockhart. For the second year in succession there was a competition for the best-dressed young person, which was judged by Channel TV presenter Jenny Mullin and Oscar Puffin.
After much deliberation the prize for best-dressed lady went to Moje Hedgecock, who wore a bright blue dress with matching hat. The lady with the best hat was Valerie Ridgway, wife of the Lieutenant-Governor, and the best-dressed young person was Brady Spence.
