Gymnasts all set for Aland

JERSEY’S gymnasts are itching to get stuck in to the Island Games in Aland this summer -particularly as it may be the last chance they get for a while.

Gymnastics was not included at the last Games in Rhodes in 2007, and there is a strong possibility that it will again be overlooked when the Games are held in the Isle of Wight in 2011.

The Jersey men’s team is made up of five members from the Jersey Gymnastics Club and includes Ben Frith, also the team coach, who has been competing in the Island Games for over a decade – winning six gold medals in Jersey in 1997.

The six-strong girls’ team is made up of five from Regent Gymnastics Club and one from Jersey Gymnastics Club. They are all newcomers to the Island Games.
