Jeux des Iles team ready for Majorca

A TEAM of 31 young athletes from across six sporting disciplines will travel to Majorca next month to represent Jersey at the 13th Jeux des Iles.

And they have helped on their way, just in time, by a local bank already involved in sponsoring London 2012.

The Jersey team, who will compete against 18 other islands between 28-30 May, includes representatives from swimming, gymnastics, athletics, tennis, table tennis and sailing. Lloyds TSB Offshore have agreed to sponsor the team for this year, coming on board just at the right time according to Jersey team manager, Hugh Raymond.

The team consists of Althletics: Hugo Barette, Marc Alner, Sam Dawkins, Elliott Dorey, Felicity Johnson-Deeley, Nicola Milner, Molly Jehan, Shadine Duquemin.

Table tennis: Josh Band, Max Tupper, Hugo Tupper, Jodie Le Maistre, Kelsy Le Maistire, Helen Liron; Sailing: Laurence Carter, Paul Myatt, Elizabeth Ellison, Lily Carter; Gymnastics: Lisa Day, Elizabeth Appleyard, Charlotte Sweeney, Shinara Le Blancq; Swimming: Becky Lowe, Natasha Stuttard, Leila Osman; Tennis: Six players still to be selected.
