The challengers matched their opponents in play, fitness and agility to trail by just two goals at the end of the first quarter.
St Clement B’s collaboration of veteran players and new signings worked excellently, pushing the champions all the way, and playing a game to be proud of – but while St Clement A were forced to push even harder, they eventually managed to create a winning lead with help from Player of the Match Carol McKeon, who kept the ball rolling down the court and into the hands of the shooters.
Despite some brilliant play from St Clement B Player of the Match Tracey Fullerton, whose goal keeping interceptions put paid to plenty of attacks, it was the As who would be victorious – wrapping up the game at 45-34. It was a good game, too, for title chasers Convent A, who overcame a promising start by St Lawrence A on Tuesday night to win convincingly 39-25.
