Esther Rantzen was totally out of order

From Robin Pitcher.

I WAS disgusted by the repugnant behaviour of Esther Rantzen last week.

The Island welcomed her with open arms and even gave this Commander of the British Empire the honour of drawing the Island’s grandest lottery of the year.

She then repays us in a manner akin to that of King Lear’s daughter, by both barking orders at the Bailiff on international radio and encouraging people to march on Liberation Day in light of the Haut de la Garenne saga.

Liberation Day is a celebration of England and her allies’ victory and the resulting freedom for the Islanders of Jersey.

This should be celebrated by one and all. It should not be overshadowed by the ugly

demands of an aged watchdog whose greatest passion in life and seemingly sole purpose appear to be to expose dodgy washing machine salesmen.

I am so surprised with Ms Rantzen’s apparent disrespect for Liberation Day. She should never be invited back to the Island and should be stripped of her CBE immediately.

It’s a shame to see the president of Childline be capable of such abuse of innocent hospitality.

That’s Life, I guess.
