A GOLDEN labrador called Libby was hauled to safety by firefighters early yesterday after falling 12 ft into a large water-filled hole on Les Landes Common.
Despite causing her owner Christine Le Sueur some concern, Libby has, in her own way, highlighted what the Fire Service said could be a danger spot for others.
The common is public land administered by the Environment department, and countryside manager John Pinel said that he would now carry out a safety check at the spot where Libby fell and the surrounding area.
Miss Le Sueur was out walking Libby with her other two labradors, Hector and Lulu, when Libby and Hector disappeared under the gorse.
‘Hector came out, but there was no sign of Libby, and then I heard her whimpering and realised that she was in trouble,’ said Miss Le Sueur said. ‘If she had become too tired before the Fire Service arrived I would have had to go in and get her myself.’
