The De La Salle pupil has qualified for the British Olympic Trials which start on Monday at Ponds Forge, Sheffield. The backstroke specialist will be racing in the 200 backstroke on Wednesday, against a field which will include the likes of Liam Tanncock, World and Commonwealth Games medallist, and James Goddard, who finished fourth at the last Olympics in the same event.

Gallichan is the only Islander to qualify for the trials this year and will be hoping to improve on what has already been a good year in this event.
