Le Brun top: Ernie Le Brun was High Gun and winner of Class A with 41 ex 50 in Lecq Clay Target Club’s 50 Bird Sporting on Sunday in which 29 competitors braved the appalling wind and rain on the northern cliffs. Other results – Class A: 2=, Andrew de la Haye and Richard Le Brun 40. Class AA: 1, Mark Andrews 38. Class B: 1, Simon Wedgbury 40; 2=, Chris Settle and Martin Shales 39. GOLF – Demi events: Chris McNabb, 15 handicap, won the Demi Golf Society Le Duc and Matson Cup on Saturday with a net 66. Ian Beeley, 11 hcp, was second on 68 and Paul King, 13 hcp, third on 71. David Le Monnier was the Putting Cup winner with 28.
O’Connor’s in form: Chris O’Connor, 8 hcp, continued his hot streak with a third successive victory in winning the Samares Golf Society Samares Medal at Les Mielles on Sunday with a net 71. John Forsyth, 15 hcp, was second on 74 and Jason Cripps, 16 hcp, third on 77.
PETANQUE – Floodlit m?lee: Mary Southwood won the final round of the Jersey Petanque Club’s Floodlit M?lee with +14 as Rita Le Brocq took second on +13 and Kath Burt third on +9. Lyndon Lewis won the men’s event with +9 with Noel Lillicrap taking second on +8 and Ron Le Herrissier third on +7. The overall placings for the competition were – Ladies: 1, Joan Lewis; 2, Kath Burt; 3, Jill Squires. Men: 1, Lawrence Rondel; 2, Ken Vibert; 3, Ron Le Herrissier.
HOCKEY – Vets victorious: OV Vets beat Division II leaders Crusaders 1sts 4-2 in the JHA Investec League on Saturday.
SAILING – Event postponed: The Royal Channel Islands Yacht Club’s Commodore Cup was postponed due to gale force winds on Friday and it will now take place on Saturday 5 April, starting at 9.30 am in St Aubin’s Bay.
