Before the new driving licence system was introduced in April, DVS could not access licence details during roadchecks.
But now all information ? stored on the new credit card-sized licences ? can be accessed as the check is taking place.
Head of DVS Alan Muir said that, for example, Islanders moving home might have changed their address on their licence but not on the vehicle registration documents ? a legal requirement. The new facility means that DVS can pull up drivers who have not informed the department of their new address.
