The Channel Islands junior team reached the semi-final of the European Pool Championship in Malta but were knocked out by Scotland.

They had earlier suffered defeats to England 11-4 and Scotland 10-5.

On day four Jerseyman Ady Bougourd was knocked out of the singles as he lost 7-5 to Northern Ireland’s Morray Dolan.

Guernsey’s James Kirk and Jess de la Haye had made it to the last 32 of the junior singles – Kirk was beaten 5-1 in his first match and de la Haye, who won his first match 5-1, went out in the next to England’s Phil Parkin 6-1.

In the last few days the Men’s B team lost 15-0 to Wales and 13-2 to Ireland and the Ladies also lost to Wales 13-2.

The Men’s A team lost to Scotland, 9-6, but beat Northern Ireland 8-7 to record their first team win.

Guernsey’s Phil Jones lost in the final of the wheelchair event 4-1.

NETBALL – Regional League

Jersey’s J United won one and lost one in their South West Premier League fixtures yesterday.

They beat Team Bath Toucans 36-34 and lost to league leaders Roman Glass 45-28.

Bath clean up – Serena Guthrie’s Team Bath beat Leeds Carnegie 69-36 on Saturday to remain on course for a top four Superleague play-off spot this season.

BOXING – Radisson delight

Jersey Leonis ABC beat a Devon Select 9-1 at the Radisson SAS Waterfront Hotel on Saturday night.

WATER POLO – Jersey second

Jersey are now in second after three wins and two draws in the South East Region West League.

They beat Basingstoke 12-11, Southampton 10-6 and Cranleigh 24-3 and drew 7-7 with Oxford and 10-10 with league leaders Worthing.

MOTOR SPORT – Rogan success

Lee Rogan won the A Route at the Jersey Classic and Modern Trials Club trial at Broadlands yesterday.

Eagles Juniors beat Jersey Ladies 2nds 5-4 in the Investec JHA Minor Cup yesterday.

In the Investec Women’s Division I League, Jersey Ladies beat JExpress Nomads 2-0.

SHOOTING – De la Haye record

Jon de la Haye achieved a record performance yesterday by shooting a 100-bird straight in English skeet, a first for Lecq Clay Target Club, prior to winning the month end 100-bird sporting with 90.

GOLF – Campbell tops field

Colin Campbell (23 handicap) won round three of Les Ormes’ Winter League yesterday on count-back from Dale Martin (12), with both scoring 38 points.

Brian Preddy (26) was third on 37 pts.

La Moye glide to victory – La Moye GC beat Les Mielles GC 8.5-3.5 on Saturday to win the Swan Trophy at La Moye.

McGhee victory – Rab McGhee won the St Clement Golf Club Modern Hotels Stableford yesterday with 38 points.

Alec Thomson was second with 35.

Rowles to win – Toni Rowles (14 hcp) won the Demi Society M Forrest Trophy, three club competition, with 31 pts on Saturday.

Joe Straiton (9) was second on 30 pts and Roger de Sousa (11) third on 30 pts.

VOLLEYBALL – League action

In the Insurance Corporation Ladies’ League, 2e2 Panthers beat Jackson Fox Panthers 3-1 (25-8, 25-12, 22-25, 25-8) and Insurance Corporation Jets beat Gunsite Juniors 3-0 (25-6, 25-11, 25-10).

In the Mixed League Walkers beat Peter Green Builders 3-0 (25-21, 25-18, 25-13) and Usual Suspects beat Usual Suspects Too 3-0 (25-21, 25-21, 25-16).
