A proposal by Deputy Ben Fox to place collection points in the west and east parts of the Island as well as Bellozanne Valley has been supported by Transport and Technical Services and the Environment Scrutiny panel.

The news will spark more interest in the long-running debate over how the Island deals with its green waste problem.

A meeting was organised last week by the St Helier roads committee after they considered an application by Transport to move green waste collection from La Collette to Bellozanne Valley.

They refused to support the proposal until other sites, such as Warwick Farm at Mont ? l’Abbé, had been looked at.
