Coca-Cola Combination Division I’s First Tower United are the latest club to achieve the mark making it nine in total alongside Grouville, Jersey Wanderers, Magpies, St Brelade, St Clement, St Peter, St Paul’s and Rozel Rovers.

The scheme highlights best practice within clubs, including a written constitution, qualified coaches, codes of conduct and a club complaints procedure to ensure a club has high standards in terms of their operations, organisation and coaching.

First Tower have expanded in recent years to run men’s and women’s teams from minis through to seniors.

The club’s facilities at La Hague Manor in St Peter are being used seven days a week providing coaching and football for 11 teams under the presidency of Roger Gibbon.

Jersey Football Association chief executive officer/ county secretary Paul Creeden, who was previously with the Hampshire FA, said: ‘Jersey’s record of nine clubs is tremendous and percentage-wise it’s much better than Hampshire simply because everyone works together better in Jersey than Hampshire via the Combination, the JFA and the Local Football Partnership

‘Jersey has some incredibly well organised clubs and they should be proud of that fact.

Obviously the target is to get every club Charter Standard qualified and I see no reason why not.

‘Clubs that already have the status have further levels to aspire too and many are working towards that for the benefit of everyone involved.’

First Tower will receive their award on Saturday at 12.30 pm, prior to their Le Riches Cup quarter-final at La Hague Manor against Jersey Scottish.
