Recording eight wins over four days, the talented trio finished their 11-match round-robin in third place in their group, behind Australia and Malaysia, but ahead of the Scots.
In tomorrow’s quarter finals, Grimes, Cole and Bisson face Wales, and if they are successful they will meet Australia or Hong Kong in the semi finals.
The men’s four, comprising Derek Boswell, Alan Shaw, Cyril Renouf and Lee Nixon were denied a place in the knockout stage on shots countback, after finishing in equal fourth place with South Africa.
On the last day of group play, Nixon’s quartet lost to Australia, 21-14, but beat Spain, 16-13, but finished with a shots difference of +6, compared with the South Africans’ +18.
Jamie MacDonald, competing in the men’s singles, has benefited from the experience, and has done well, winning five matches, and finishing in seventh place in his strong group, behind South Africa, Scotland, Guernsey, Ireland, England and Fiji.
That means that his Channel Islands colleague, Guernsey’s Gary Ptschou, has made it through to the quarter finals, where he will play Aussie Aron Sherriff.
The Jersey women’s pair of Gaynor Thomas and Suzie Dingle did not do as well as expected, but their two wins – including a last-day victory over Fiji, hauled them off the bottom of the table, and they finished in tenth place.
