Gusts of wind up to 75 mph will make leaving the house an unattractive prospect, with severe gales expected to batter the Island all weekend, especially on Sunday.
Even during calmer periods the wind is expected to be blowing at around 50 mph with the sea state very rough all weekend.
The Meteorological Department say that temperatures could reach 12 degrees, but the wind will make it feel much colder.
Rain is also going to be a fairly regular occurrence, although the worst of the weather is expected to arrive later in the weekend.
