As the United States, the UK, Germany, France and the United Nations all committed funds to the victims of tropical cyclone Sidr yesterday, JOA told the JEP that there would be no contribution from the Island.
Grants for charities working in India, Pakistan, Mexico and Peru in 2007 have sapped the commission’s £630,000 budget this year and, until January, there is no money left.
‘This is the first year that it has run out,’ explained JOA executive officer Kathryn Filipponi yesterday.
