The Bees, who finished eighth in the divisional race for the Guinness Premiership, are the highest ranked club for many a season to face the Island side and a good size crowd can be expected at St Peter tomorrow for a 2 pm kick-off.
Bees, who faced Cardiff last week, are in the Island for a pre-season training break and should give new Jersey head coach Barry George an excellent indication of the state of his own squad, ahead of the return/arrival of three of the four signed professionals.
The stated aim for Jersey is to gain promotion to London I this season, so playing against quality opposition is a real plus as they aim to get off to a good start in the league.
The club’s director of coaching, Dai Burton, said: ‘The Bees are a big club, with several players with Premiership experience in their team – and it’ll give Barry the chance to look at his squad ahead of the pros arriving.’ Premiership champions Leicester Tigers will be hoping to raise money for Matt Hampson, a young player seriously injured while training with England U21s in 2005, when they host an evening with stars such as Harry Ellis and Dusty Hare at the Jersey RFC clubhouse on Wednesday evening.
The evening is free and will be hosted by Tigers president Roy Jackson from 7 pm.
The players are among a host of coaches over for the first week of the Ashburton Leicester Tigers coaching courses.
