The move follows Senator Syvret’s allegations that ministers were blocking attempts to investigate alleged child protection failings, and his public criticism of his own staff. But the Senator has told his colleagues – six of whom have signed a letter demanding that he steps down – that they will have to fight it out in the States to get rid of him. A vote of no confidence is likely in September, providing what will be the biggest showdown yet of the ministerial era.
