Karla Martin Macken was one of a party of 24 youngsters from Galicia in Spain visiting the Island who had a go at one of the Jersey Pistol Club’s introductions to pistol shooting courses at the Crabbé range on Monday. And she coolly shot right through the centre of the target ten times in succession with the .22 Browning pistol she used for the practice shoot. Her achievement was described as ‘extraordinary’ by the president of the Jersey Pistol Club, Derek Bernard. ‘I was talking to the guys here and none of us – who have all been around for a long time – can remember anyone doing that before,’ he said.
