Deeley regained the Jersey Ladies Golf Union HSBC Private Bank Championship at the Royal Jersey after four days of excellent play, which led to yesterday morning’s semi-final encounter with reigning Channel Islands champion Olivia Jordan-Higgins.
Multiple championship winner Deeley prevailed against the talented teenager who is on a golfing scholarship in the United States.
Jordan-Higgins, of Royal Jersey, was four down at one point, but fought back to take Deeley down the 19th hole.
The vastly experienced Deeley, however, kept her nerve and won through to the final.
In the other Division 1 semi Mollin was in fine form and defeated fellow Island Games team member Diane Carter, of Royal Jersey, 5 and 4.
But she was unable to stop Deeley in the final and her bid to lift the Siddeley Silver Trophy ended on the 13th hole.
Wendy Hervé made it a La Moye double by beating Royal Jersey’s Lisa Hamilton-Howes 6 and 4 in the Division II finale, while the Siddeley Bronze Trophy, for Division III, went to Marry Marr, who overcame fellow Les Mielles member Rachel Andrews 5 and 4.
Hamilton-Howes had gained a place in the final by defeating Sue Thorp of Les Ormes 2 and 1, while Hervé edged out Mary Le Gresley of Royal Jersey by the same score.
Andrews needed to go to the 19th hole for the second day running to finally defeat fellow Les Mielles member Aggie Garrett in the Division III semi-final.
Marr had a 5 and 4 win over Wheatlands’ Carol Allen to reach the final.
On the 12 June Deeley will play the 2007 Guernsey Ladies Champion at Royal Jersey for the CI Championship.
Marr will face the Guernsey Bronze Division winner for the Read Trophy.
To round off a great day for Marr she was also the lucky winner of an all expenses-paid trip for two to the HSBC World Matchplay championships at Wentworth in October.
