Instead it is designed to give peace of mind to people buying over the internet and by mail order from Island-based companies. Economic Development Minister Philip Ozouf has lodged the Draft Distance Selling (Jersey) Law which, if adopted, would bring the Island up to speed with the rest of Europe. It proposes, for example, ensuring that buyers have the right to clear information about prices and delivery arrangement and to cancel orders. Senator Ozouf said that this was part of a wave of measures to bolster the Island’s international reputation as a well-regulated market place in the 21st century and to give consumers greater rights.
