Banners have been put up around the Island highlighting the stark reality of life for those children who find themselves being moved from pillar to post. Sean Pontin, the team manager of Adoption and Fostering Jersey, said new carers were urgently needed to offer a home for anything from a few hours, to months or even years. He added that modern families were wanted for modern children. ‘Many people in Jersey work full-time and increasingly this has become the case for both partners,’ Mr Pontin explained. ‘This in no way precludes people from working with us, many modern families access after-school resources for their children and, while it may not appropriate for all of our children, it may be right for some.’
