Man is stabbed in the back in town

The police said today that he had suffered a deep knife wound in the base of his back. Emergency services were alerted to the stabbing incident just before 9 pm after the man walked into the accident and emergency department at the General Hospital. His condition was today described as stable. The police said that a man had been arrested and charged with a grave and criminal assault allegedly committed at a property in Cannon Street on Saturday night. The incident is not believed to be a ‘stranger’ attack and the two men allegedly involved are believed to be known to each other.
