The 16-year-old Jersey Spartan and CIAC member has been put forward for the prestigious award, at intermediate level, on Saturday 18 November at the Merit Hotel in Glasgow.

The nomination is recognition for a barrow full of medals, titles and records the strapping youngster has earned this year.

Standing 6 ft 5 in and still growing, the former Haute Vallée youngster, now at Highlands, has been in superb form in both shot and discus.

With his progress overseen by UK coach John Hillier and helped by Jersey Spartan officials, he has amassed, among others, the following intermediate age honours: UK School Games shot gold; English Schools shot gold; UK Schools gold; Scottish Nationals shot and discus gold; Amateur Athletics Association shot and discus silver; Jeux des Iles shot gold, discus silver.

He is the Scottish intermediate record holder in shot and is very close to the discus mark, and also holds a host of records at club and county.

Stevenson, who is currently training in the Isle of Wight, will attend the awards evening with his mother, Sue.

His father, Rob, is unable to attend through work commitments.
